No need to buy SIM now, the government gave instructions

New Delhi: You will not need Aadhaar card to buy Mobile SIM card. According to one news, the government has issued instructions to mobile operators. The government has said that acceptance of other documents such as driving license, passport and voter ID card for mobile operators identification. Mobile companies have been asked to follow the instructions with immediate effect. Telecom Secretary Arun Sundarajan says that the Ministry has issued instructions to all telecom companies on behalf of the Ministry.

It says that if a person does not have the Aadhaar card, then do not refuse to give him a SIM card. The Government has asked to accept other forms and documents of KYC (Know Your Customer). Mobile companies emphasized verification through the Aadhaar card based on instructions given earlier by the Department of Telecom.


Earlier, the Supreme Court had questioned the government's decision to add mobile phones to the mandatory basis and said that the previous order was used as an instrument in the mandatory verification of users. The Constitution Bench of five judges, headed by Chief Justice Deepak Mishra, said that in its order on the PIL filed by the Public Policy Foundation, it was said that the users of mobile need verification in the interest of national security.
